Türkiye has joined Artic scientific exploration. According to Ankara University’s Center for Eurasian Studies, Turkey may play a pivotal role in promoting constructive relations in the Arctic.
In a recent policy brief entitled, ‘Türkiye’s Role in the Changing Arctic Environment: Tying the Future Together’, the centre highlights that Turkey is not a newly emerging non-Arctic state, having been among the first countries to build a scientific station in the Arctic and having conducted two Arctic scientific expeditions.
Türkiye can contribute to Artic science diplomacy as it has good relations with two key actors in the Artic region: Russia and the United States.
