Meta’s Oversight Board issues policy advice on sharing private residential information
Following Meta’s request for a policy advisory opinion from the Oversight Board, the board has reviewed Meta’s policy on sharing private residential information in its first policy advisory opinion.
The board recommended that Meta remove the exception to the company’s privacy rules that allows the sharing of private residential information when it is deemed ‘publicly available.’ The board also suggested that Meta establish a communication channel for doxing victims. Another suggestion is to give users more control over how they consent to the sharing of their private residential information.
