This country is particularly exposed to sand and dust from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan in the northeast; and Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan in the south, southwest, and west.
Dust storms and sandstorms can cause serious economic and environmental damage, and international cooperation is required because of the cross-border nature of this natural phenomenon, as reported by The Teheran Times.
