European leaders are expressing concern over upcoming USA – Russia negotiations on the Ukraine conflict, scheduled to occur without European or Ukrainian representation. At a recent Paris summit, officials, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, emphasised that any peace agreement must involve Ukraine and provide robust security assurances, potentially including a US guarantee. The exclusion of European voices from these negotiations has prompted discussions on increasing defence spending and enhancing military readiness within Europe. Meanwhile, US and Russian diplomats are set to meet in Saudi Arabia to discuss potential resolutions to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
