Diplomatic Visit sees Mauritania and Spain Forge Stronger Ties

Spain and Mauritania have moved to strengthen diplomatic relations, development and cooperation with the ratification of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation between Mauritania and Spain. Diplomatic interests have been heightened by Mauritanian political stability, interest in hydrocarbon reserves and diplomatic missions since 2008.
Mauritania has signed memorandum of understanding for investment of 40GW green hydrogen worth $43.5billion and is expected to sign further agreements. The MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power Conference is attracting interest from countries and financiers from Africa, Europe, Asia, America, Australia and the Middle East. The signing of a bilateral agreement in March has seen revitalisation of diplomatic visits and cultural ties between the two countries.
