Botswana grants approval for Starlink satellite Internet access

Botswana recently granted Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite Internet service, permission to operate within its borders. This approval came after a meeting between Starlink executives and President Mokgweetsi Masisi in Dallas, Texas. The President’s office announced the fast-tracking of Starlink’s application by the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA). While Starlink is now registered in Botswana, details about its operational timeline and distribution responsibilities remain uncertain. This decision follows a reported rejection of Starlink’s initial license application in February 2024.
