Diplo to develop a tailored AI system for managing IGF knowledge

10 October 2023, Kyoto (Japan)

Diplo’s new initiative IGF Knowledge for the Digital Future aims to organise and codify the wealth of knowledge generated through the IGF into an accessible and user-friendly public resource.

Since its launch in 2006, the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) has played a pivotal role in facilitating multistakeholder discussions on critical issues surrounding the internet and digital technologies.

Through its new initiative, Diplo plans to develop a tailored AI system for managing the vast IGF knowledge that has been accumulated over the years, turning it into an easy-to-use public resource.

The initiative was presented at IGF2023’s event IGF’s Knowledge Unlocked: AI-driven Insights for our Digital Future. It will make use of advanced digital technologies, particularly AI. Such a system, once developed and made public, will empower users to connect and compare discussions across various IGFs, identify commonalities, and observe the evolution of specific issues over the years.

The final aim of the project is to enhance the way we approach digital governance: by using the knowledge presented at IGF discussions and applying it to build a sustainable, inclusive, and human-centric digital future.
