Tim Flink
Postdoctoral Researcher and Senior Lecturer in Political Science and Sociology at the Humboldt University of Berlin
Dr Tim Flink is a postdoctoral researcher and a senior lecturer in Political Science and Sociology at the Humboldt University of Berlin. His work focuses on topics at the intersection of science policy research, social studies of science, and international relations.
Tim published the first comprehensive social history and policy analysis of the European Research Council (2016) and the first international comparative analysis on science diplomacy. From 2018 to 2021, he led the conceptual work of the EU consortium project ‘Using Science for/in Diplomacy for Addressing Global Challenges’ (S4D4C). As a policy expert, he has been sharing his knowledge with various national and international institutions such as the British and German parliaments, the European Commission, the European Research Council (ERC), the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
Prior to his academic engagement, Tim worked at the EU Liaison Office of the German Research Organisations (KoWi) in Brussels, representing the interests of the German Research Foundation.
