Happy Quarter 3!
On Friday, 19 May 2023, the Diplo Africa team met with the Principal Secretary and senior officials of the Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy, Kenya. The team made a presentation that provided an introduction to Diplo. The presentation was followed by cordial discussions on Kenya’s role in digital development, including engagement between the Kenya Government and Diplo to achieve strategic benefits for Kenya and support for Diplo Africa Headquarters.
Diplo’s Africa Initiative Coordinator facilitated a session on ‘Introduction to Internet Governance’ on Wednesday, 14 June 2023, at Kenya School of Internet Governance (KESIG). The session covered the seven (7) Diplo internet governance baskets: Infrastructure, Security, Legal, Economic, Development, Sociocultural and Human Rights. The session generated interest in the courses offered by Diplo.

We will host a webinar titled ‘Empowering Africa Digital Diplomacy’ on 5 July 2023 at 4:00 p.m. (Nairobi time).
This webinar will explore digital technologies and their impact on the African diplomatic space and will discuss the following:
- Digital priorities in foreign policies and international relations,
- Specific international digital governance processes,
- Ways to strengthen the participation of African stakeholders in International Geneva,
- Economic and development considerations in bilateral and multilateral relations,
- Strengthening of the whole-of-government approach,
- Facilitation of the whole-of-society approach,
- Ways to foster coordinated positions in international digital governance, and
- Long-term approaches for building academic, research, and digital policy capacities of the next generation of diplomats and policymakers.
