Geneva Policy Immersion of the Capacity Development Programme in Multilateral Diplomacy for Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific Islands

Diplomats from small developing countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and Pacific islands will undergo a 10-day policy immersion in Geneva as part of a multilateral diplomacy capacity development program. This program aims to enhance their representation in international governance hubs like Geneva, crucial for their socio-economic development. The immersion includes meetings, visits, and discussions with various institutions, providing exposure to Geneva-based processes. The initiative addresses the challenge faced by small states with limited resources, emphasizing the importance of networks, alliances, and technology tools for effective representation on global issues. Participants include 14 Africans, 10 Caribbean representatives, and 2 from the Pacific islands.

DiploFoundation at 17th European Diplomatic Programme

DiploFoundation will provide training on online diplomatic training, social media in diplomacy, and data diplomacy at the 17th European Diplomatic Programme in Malta. This program aims to enhance European diplomacy through collaboration among member states and institutions. Dr. Jovan Kurbalija and other experts will lead the training for young diplomats and officials from the European Commission and Council Secretariat.

Workshop on public speaking

Workshop: Diplomacy and the power of the unsaid

A 1.5-day workshop on diplomacy and implicit communication, focusing on the power of the unsaid, will take place on March 29-30, 2017, in Geneva. Led by linguist Biljana Scott, the session will cover topics like ambiguity, indirectness, and presuppositions. Participants will engage in exercises and a talk simulation. Model ASEM Switzerland Spin-off 2017 is a 1-day negotiation simulation of the Asia-Europe Meeting Summit. It aims to foster dialogue and cooperation between 28 EU member states, 2 other European countries, and the EU with 21 Asian countries and the ASEF Secretariat. The informal setting addresses political, economic, and socio-cultural issues to enhance the relationship between the regions with mutual respect.

Master/Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Diplomacy 2017 workshop

In February 2017, DiploFoundation and the University of Malta will kick off the Master/Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Diplomacy with an introductory workshop in Malta. Participants from various sectors will engage in diplomacy-related sessions on topics such as negotiations, digital diplomacy, and the United Nations system. Participants specializing in Internet Governance will continue their studies online and write a Master's dissertation.
