[Brussels e-briefings] Can Europe avoid a major crisis in 2011?

21 June 2011 -

online

The European Union is in bad shape. The successive rescue plans for Greece, Portugal and Ireland have not yet managed to convince the financial markets. Many observers are still predicting the de-integration of the Eurozone, while the Strauss-Kahn scandal has weakened the IMF.

On the other hand, European allies struggle with the war in Libya, as Gaddafi still resists. As the USA will soon announce partial withdrawal from Afghanistan and insists on disengaging forces from Europe, can the EU avoid a major crisis in 2011 and continue to occupy its place as a leading global power?

Join us on Tuesday, 21st June, at 15:00 CET, for another e-briefings webinar hosted by Richard Werly, Diplo fellow and European Affairs correspondent for Le Temps. Attendance is free, but registration is required. Participants will also be able to ask topic-related questions.
