Standards have an important role to play in bridging the gap between technology and policy. In addition to their technical functions, they have economic, social, human rights and (geo)political implications.
During our upcoming briefing on 27th February we will:
– Examine the policy implications of standards and discuss the interaction between standards and regulations.
– Explore the presence of standards in multilateral frameworks such as the WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade.
– Mapping the international standardisation landscape, focusing on key organisations such as ITU, ISO, IEC and IETF.
– See who the main players are in the international standardisation process and identify how their participation has evolved over the years.
