Webinar announcement
The webinar will survey the current developments and analyse impact of the Internet in diplomatic negotiations. Are negotiations more effective? Do diplomats need new skills? What are the future challenges?
Over the last 10 years the Internet entered diplomatic conference rooms worldwide and significantly influences the way in which international meetings are conducted. Diplomats are able to be in constant contact with their ministries of foreign affairs (MFAs) and other government departments back home. Coordination became easier. In the conference room, corridor diplomacy and tête-à -têteexchanges have been complemented and supplemented by online chat and exchanges of tweets and SMSs among diplomats.
Video-broadcasting opened diplomatic meetings for all those who cannot attend meetings physically. Diplomatic tweeting provides constant updates to the global public. All of it contributed to inclusiveness of global diplomacy.
