International regulation on the net:Â AÂ necessity, but what about possibilities?
Cyber Polygon 2021
Friday, 9th July, 15:20–15:50 CEST (13:20–13:50 UTC)
The internet is borderless, data flow is enormous, and the number of internet users is approaching five billion. However, data and cybersecurity laws and regulations vary across countries which makes global cooperation more complex. With that in mind, the international community now realises the necessity of unification — but is it possible? How can we protect users in the global digital space and take into account the interests of all parties: countries, businesses, and people?
This discussion is part of Cyber Polygon, an annual online event which connects various global organisations to train their competencies, exchange best practices, and bring tangible results to the world community.
Moderator: Dr Jovan Kurbalija (Executive Director, Diplo; Head, Geneva Internet Platform (GIP)) will moderate this discussion.
Speakers: Vuk Žugić (Ambassador, Co-ordinator of Economic and Environmental Activities, OSCE) and Andrey Vorobyov (Director, Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ).Â
