The Geneva Internet Platform (GIP) was part of the 2024 Annual Conference of the Geneva Human Rights Platform, on 5 November.
The GIP co-hosted a workshop on Human rights in the digital age: Balancing AI, technology, and governance in smart cities, together with the Global Cities Hub. The workshop explored the intersection of human rights protection with AI use and innovation, focusing on regulatory frameworks and ethical considerations required to ensure that smart city technologies are people-centered and guided by human rights protection.
Jovan Kurbalija contributed to the workshop with a presentation focused on the need to make smart cities safe. A follow-up blog text was published after the event.
