13 December 2010 - 14 December 2010

MFA, Belgrade, Serbia

Two seminars on e-diplomacy and e-governance were recently held in Belgrade and Podgorica for diplomats and government officials from Serbia and Montenegro. The seminars were organised and supported by the Vienna Diplomatic Academy.

On 13-14 December, Jovan Kurbalija and Vladimir Radunovic addressed a group of 20 participants from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government departments. The seminar focused on the impact of ICT and Internet on diplomacy. The main focus was the preparations for the European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) meeting, scheduled to take place in Belgrade, Serbia, on 30-31 May 2011. The participants will be involved in discussions on privacy, data protection, child safety on the Internet, management of domains and other issues that will be discussed during EuroDIG.

On 15-16 December, Dr Kurbalija delivered the e-diplomacy and e-governance seminar to officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro. The seminar focused on the interplay between diplomacy and the developments in ICT and the Internet, and their relevance in the light of Montenegro’s accession to the European Union.
