DiploFoundation is born

20 November 2002

Ambassador Alexis Lautenberg, the Swiss representative in Malta, and Ambassador Abraham Borg, the Maltese representative in Switzerland, signed DiploFoundation’s founding document on 20 November 2002, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Malta.

This marked the birth of DiploFoundation as a non-profit foundation dedicated to

  • increasing the role of small and developing states in global diplomacy,
  • improving global governance and international policy development, and
  • assisting actors in dealing with the fast-emerging policy field of Internet governance and digital policy.

Over the past 20 years, Diplo has worked on achieving its mission through multiple activities, including courses and capacity development programmes, events, and research and publications.
