Diplo at STI Forum 2019, New York

The 4th annual Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum 2019) is part of the Technology Facilitation Mechanism and will be held on 14-15 May 2019 at the United Nations’ Headquarters in New York, United States. The theme of this year’s forum is STI for ensuring inclusiveness and equality, with a special focus on sustainable development goals (SDGs) 4, 8, 10, 13, and 16. The STI Forum will be preceded by the Global Solutions Summit 2019 on 13 May 2019, also at the United Nations’ Headquarters in New York.

The STI Forum was created under the mandate of the 2030 Agenda and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda and is aimed at ‘providing a venue for facilitating interaction, matchmaking and the establishment of networks between relevant stakeholders and multistakeholder partnerships in order to identify and examine technology needs and gaps, including with regard to scientific co-operation, innovation and capacity-building, and also in order to help facilitate development, transfer and dissemination of relevant technologies for the SDGs.’

Dr Tereza Horejsova (Project Development Director, DiploFoundation) will be speaking at two side-events: Ethical Code: Designing and Governing Inclusive AI on 14 May and Briefing to Member States on the Internet Governance Forum in Berlin, Nov 2019 on 15 May.
