On 9 December 2024, the Permanent Mission of Hungary to the UN, WTO and other International Organizations in Geneva hosted a EU Digital Retreat for diplomats of EU member states. The event featured exchanges of views on two main topics: data governance frameworks and the implementation of the Global Digital Compact from a Geneva perspective.
Sorina Teleanu, Diplo’s Director of Knowledge, contributed as a guest speaker to the discussion on data governance. Her contribution revolved around three issues: What do we talk about when we talk about data (governance)? What issues are in focus in current data governance debates? Where and how is data governance discussed at an international level and what next in these processes?
