Digital technology: An unprecedented opportunity for the prevention of trafficking

17 October 2018 -

Geneva, Switzerland

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Bern, in co-operation with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) is organising: Digital technology: An unprecedented opportunity for the prevention of trafficking on 18 October, on the occasion of the EU Anti-Trafficking Day 2018. The event will take place at Maison de la Paix Meeting Centre, Geneva, from 8:30 to 14:30 CEST.

The discussions at the event will focus on the use of digital technology to help prevent human trafficking. The main goal is to present digital tools that are being developed around the world, but also to offer a platform for the multidisciplinary exchange and networking between counter-trafficking stakeholders and private companies from the ICT sector. The conference will bring together state and non-state stakeholders involved in counter-trafficking in Switzerland and abroad, as well as representatives from the private economy/technology sector, international organisations and permanent missions to the UN based in Geneva.

The opening address: The importance of considering digitalisation, will be delivered by Dr Jovan Kurbalija (Secretary, UN High Level Panel on Digital Cooperation).
