Preparations are under way for the ISOC Next Generation Leaders (NGL) eLearning Course, which is set to begin in May. The individuals selected for the course will be announced in the coming days.

The eLearning Course, organised in collaboration with Diplo, is the academic component of ISOC’s NGL Programme. The course runs for six months, and takes place on Diplo’s e-learning platform. The curriculum explores four thematic parts: history of the Internet; technical background; Internet governance and policy; and emerging issues.

For the first time this year, a class in French will run concurrently with the English class. Both classes – each in their respective languages – will make use of Diplo’s interactive learning tools, including the hypertext (HT) entries tool, the blog and forum areas, and the weekly online sessions.

The ISOC NGL Programme seeks to train emerging leaders in Internet technology, policy and business, through both academic and practical aspects. The NGL participants are invited to apply for ISOC’s representation programmes, offering them the possibility to attend meetings of the Internet Governance Forum, the World Bank and OECD, and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

After graduating, ISOC invites a number of outstanding leaders to visit the ISOC offices to help them refine project proposals, and to provide additional training.
