Present throughout the meeting, the Geneva Internet Platform (GIP) team has attracted interest in and attention to the growing role of Digital Geneva, during the 9th Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Istanbul this week. Geneva is now clearly a lead city actor on the global digital map.

Dr Jovan Kurbalija and the GIP team have been particularly active in promoting the role of the Swiss city in future digital negotiations, especially regarding crucial questions like the neutrality of the Internet. The team is involved in several panels; full list is available here.

This presence in Istanbul is an ‘avant garde’ of the upcoming Geneva Internet Conference (GIC) to be held on 18 and 19 November 2014, with support from the Swiss Authorities, prestigious guests and speakers, and the Geneva-based international community.

The IGF is a prominent UN-founded global forum for open discussions of Internet policy, assisting policymakers and decision-shapers in meaningful Internet policies. The global meeting will run until Friday, 5th September, 2014.
