The Red Iberoamericana de Protección de Datos (RIPD) functions as a forum for cooperation between national data protection authorities in Latin America. Its aim is to promote, maintain and strengthen the close and ongoing exchange of information, experience and knowledge between its member states, and promote legal developments necessary to ensure an advanced regulation of the right to protection of personal data in a democratic context, taking into account the need for continuous flow of data between countries.

The RIPD offers a Spanish-language forum and repository of documents on personal data protection in Latin American countries. Throughout its activities, it covers issues related to privacy and data protection in the online environment.
