The Omani Diplomatic Institute, also known as the Diplomatic Academy by the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was established in November 1991. Its primary purpose is to train and develop Oman's diplomatic staff. The Institute equips diplomats with essential skills and knowledge to effectively manage Oman's diplomatic relations in political, economic, social, and technological aspects.

The Institute provides a range of practical programs. These include courses that cover topics relevant to diplomacy, such as international law, negotiation techniques, protocol, and regional affairs. In addition, the Institute hosts events with prominent figures and experts to offer practical insights into current international issues. The training provided by the Institute prepares diplomats and their spouses for overseas assignments, familiarizing them with Oman's foreign policy and diplomatic etiquette.
