Stakeholder group: NGOs and associations

The LoRa Alliance is a non-profit technology association which works on standardisation in the field of Internet of Things. Its main goal is to standardize Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) and enable a worldwide deployment of Internet of Things, machine-to-machine, smart city, and industrial applications.

The Alliance has developed LoRaWAN - an LPWAN specification intended for wireless battery operated objects in regional, national, or global networks. The standard is aimed to provide seamless interoperability among  Internet of Things objects ('smart things'), without the need of complex local installations.

Members of the Alliance include telecom companies, equipment manufacturers, system integrators, sensor manufacturers, and entrepreneurial start-ups from all over the world. They share knowledge and experience and work together to promote the LoRaWAN standard at a global level.
