The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) is a non-profit organisation whose aim is to define and promote best practices to help ensure a secure cloud computing environment, and to provide education on the uses of cloud computing to help secure all other forms of computing.

In order to achieve its aim, the Alliance carries cloud security-specific research, engages in educational and training activities, provides certification programmes, and organises various events in its area of expertise. CSA operates the CSA Security, Trust & Assurance Registry certification programme, and is the initiator of the industry's first cloud security user certification in 2010 (the Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge).

CSA's activities are intended to benefit the entire community impacted by cloud computing: cloud computing providers and customers, governments, entrepreneurs, the assurance industry, etc. The Alliance provides a forum through which such actors can work together to create and maintain a trusted cloud ecosystem.

Members of CSA are individuals with an interest and expertise in cloud computing, non-profit associations and industry groups, and corporations. The Alliance also has local chapters around the world, which are dedicated to promoting the secure adoption of cloud computing at a local level.
