The Africa Civil Society on the Information Society (ACSIS) is a civil society organisation created in 2003 with the aim to promote an inclusive information society in Africa. In order to achieve its aim, the organisation focuses on a number of tasks and activities such as: providing advice to national and regional institutions on ICT policies and strategies, conducting research on ICT-related issues, facilitating the sharing of information, expertise, and best practices on the use of ICT for development, and contributing to capacity building activities, in partnership with other national, regional and global organisations. ACSIS participates in Internet governance processes and organisations such as the global Internet Governance Forum, the African Internet Governance Forum, the WSIS Forum, and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.
