Upcoming study opportunities

2016 Master/Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Diplomacy

DiploFoundation is now accepting applications for the 2016 Master/PGD in Contemporary Diplomacy, and the Master/PGD in Contemporary Diplomacy with an Internet Governance specialisation. These unique postgraduate programmes, offered in cooperation with the University of Malta, include a 10-day residential workshop in Malta followed by 16-20 months of online learning. Scholarships covering 20–50% of the Postgraduate Diploma fee are available for applicants from small and developing states. The programme starts on 1 February 2016. The application deadline is 1 October 2015 for international applicants and 15 November 2015 for Maltese applicants.

Malta scholarships

Thanks to support from the Government of Malta, partial scholarships are available for applicants from developing countries to attend upcoming Diplo online courses. Launch of GIP Digital Watch

Alongside the physical pillar of the Geneva Internet Platform (e.g. capacity development activities, events, and briefings), an online pillar involves the development of GIP Digital Watch, a comprehensive Internet governance and digital policy observatory. GIP Digital Watch will serve as a tool to provide a concise overview of all Internet governance and digital policy issues, actors, and ongoing debates, building extensively on DiploFoundation’s resources developed over the last 15 years and our in-house data-mining software system.

GIP Digital Watch pillars:

• Online observatory – The observatory will maintain a comprehensive summary of Internet developments and provide access to the latest research and data on Internet policy (the GIP’s cutting-edge aspect). GIP Digital Watch will serve as a one-stop-shop overview of related issues, featuring both explanatory texts and live updates. The main emphasis will be on quantitative research (e.g. data-mining of open data, topic profiling), which is missing in the current IG research. GIP Digital Watch will be launched on 28 September 2015, in partnership with the Internet Society (ISOC).
• Monthly briefings on Internet governance in Geneva/online – on the last Tuesday of every month. Next briefing will take place on 29 September 2015.
