Call for Applications – Short Online Courses for Autumn 2005
Diplo will offer 4 short online courses in Autumn 2005 (starting in late September / early October):
- Bilateral Diplomacy (Ambassador Kishan Rana)
- Contemporary Economic Diplomacy (Prof. Geoff Pigman)
- Introduction to Diplomacy (Prof. Geoff Berridge and Mr Haraldur Egillson)
- Language and Diplomacy (Dr Biljana Scott)
Courses are designed to allow working diplomats and others involved in international relations to continue their education by learning about new topics in the field of diplomacy, or expanding and refreshing their knowledge of more traditional topics. Courses require 10 weeks of part-time study, typically 6-8 hours per week. Successful participants are awarded a postgraduate level certificate from DiploFoundation.

Introducing the Internet Governance Project (IGP)
The Internet Governance Project, a source for independent analysis of international Internet policy, is an interdisciplinary consortium of academics with scholarly and practical expertise in international governance, Internet policy, as well as information and communications technology (ICT). The project is conducting research on and publishing analyses of Internet Governance. Some of the work is intended to contribute to the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the United Nations Working Group on Internet Governance, as well as related debates at the national, regional, and international levels.

Internet Governance DVD
Diplo, in collaboration with the UNDP Asia Pacific Development Information Programme (UNDP-APDIP), will design, produce, and distribute a DVD that will serve as a self-learning package on Internet Governance. The Internet Governance course, developed by Diplo, will constitute a core element of the DVD, although the course will be redesigned with a stronger focus on development-oriented Internet Governance, as well as on topics central to the Asia-Pacific region. The Internet Governance DVD will be presented at the WSIS in Tunis and the Commonwealth Summit in Malta (both in November 2005).
