Call for Applications: Postgraduate Diploma in Diplomacy
DiploFoundation is now accepting applications for the Postgraduate Diploma in Diplomacy, a programme designed for diplomats, civil servants and others involved in international relations who would like to improve their knowledge and skills in the field of diplomacy and information and communications technologies (ICT). The programme consists of an introductory workshop in Malta and ten months of online learning, and is accredited by the University of Malta. The application deadline is December 13, 2004. Museum of Diplomacy
While there are hundreds of military museums, the United States Diplomacy Center may be the first museum of diplomacy. American Ambassador Stephen Low had long envisioned a museum of diplomatic history, and in 1996 Secretary Albright committed a space on the first floor of the George C Marshall wing at the State Department. Michael Boorstein, director of the United States Diplomacy Center, and his colleagues are now conceptualizing and designing the museum and its exhibits, which should open in 2007. “The visitor center and museum will be a place where the American diplomatic community can tell their stories and encourage others to join their ranks.” You can read more about the project in this State Magazine article by Michael Boorstein and Priscilla Linn.
International Conference on Multistakeholder Diplomacy
DiploFoundation, the Maltese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Global Knowledge Partnership and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation are co-organising an international conference on Multistakeholder Diplomacy, to be held in Malta from 11 – 13 February, 2005. This event will examine the multistakeholder approach to diplomacy, with particular focus on the role and impact of various stakeholders in the WSIS process. The conference will aim at contributing to the World Summit on the Information Society and Internet Governance processes by providing policy and practical recommendations for Tunis 2005. The conference will be of particular interest to:
- diplomats and officials from international organisations
- academics and students in the fields of diplomacy, international relations, political science, management and related topics
- business people, journalists, religious authorities, and NGO employees who work with diplomats.
