Global Internet Policy Activities in Geneva
Between the 13th and the 25th of May, Geneva will host numerous activities related to global Internet policy. These will include the World Summit on Information Society follow-up and implementation meetings, others organized by the International Telecommunications Union, and the meeting of the Commission on Science and Technology. The meeting that will discuss preparations for the next Internet Governance Forum (Rio de Janeiro, November 2007) will take place between 23 and 25 May.
Diplo will actively participate in these activities. On 21 May, Diplo will organize a global launch of Diplomacy Island. Diplo will also organize a seminar on issues related to Internet governance.

Courses allow working diplomats and others involved in international relations to continue their education by learning about new topics in the field of diplomacy, or to expand and refresh their knowledge of more traditional topics. Courses require 10 weeks of part-time study, typically 6 to 8 hours per week. Successful participants receive a postgraduate level certificate from DiploFoundation.

New Online Course: Diplomacy of Small States
Diplo is pleased to offer a new online course starting the week of 2 July 2007: Diplomacy of Small States, taught by Malta’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Victor Camilleri. The course examines the manner in which small states conduct diplomacy in pursuit of foreign policy objectives and in managing participation in the global community of nations. The subject takes two aspects as starting premises – that diplomacy as practiced by small states is a subset of the basic themes and methods of diplomacy in general; and that small states, however defined, are necessary and active partners in the global community of nations.
Like all Diplo’s online courses, this course is designed to allow working diplomats and others involved in international relations to continue their education by learning about new topics in the field of diplomacy.
