The Master of Arts/Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Diplomacy is designed for diplomats, civil servants, employees of international organisations, and others involved in international relations. The programme focuses on a broad spectrum of issues, including the work of diplomats in today’s world, new topics on diplomatic agendas, and the use of information and communications technology tools for diplomatic activities.
The programme is delivered through blended learning, taking advantage of the benefits offered by both traditional, face-to-face teaching, and online instruction. It is accredited through the Department of International Relations within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta.
The application deadline for the programme commencing in 2008 is October 10, 2007. For further information, and to apply, please visit the MA/PGD in Contemporary Diplomacy website.
Online Roundtable: Youth and the Internet Governance Process
DiploFoundation, the International Institute for Communication and Development, and the International Institute for Sustainable Development have jointly started an online roundtable on “Youth and the Internet Governance Process.” This roundtable is a direct follow-up of a successful e-Consultation initiative of winter 2006 hosted by TakingITglobal. The roundtable, lasting from September to the end of October 2007, will gather thirty young activists from twenty countries, and will include several teenagers. Using web2.0 tools integrated within the Diplo learning platform, the participants will discuss youth’s perception of Internet-governance-related problems and will suggest a long-term strategy for global and national Internet governance issues. The participants will also agree on action plans for the forthcoming meetings of the Internet Governance Forum in Rio de Janeiro in November and the Global Knowledge III meetings of the Global Knowledge Partnership in Kuala Lumpur in December.

Diplo and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office
Diplo’s online course on Bilateral Diplomacy will be used in the near future for the training of British diplomats. After adaptation to meet the requirements of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), the online course will form part of the programme of training for diplomats and other staff. The course, developed and taught by Ambassador Kishan Rana, has been offered to an international audience by Diplo over the last five years and has been popular among diplomats worldwide. If this project is successful, the FCO will evaluate other Diplo courses for possible integration in their training curriculum. On the FCO project, Diplo will cooperate with the Centre for Political and Diplomatic Studies (Oxford). For more information about Diplo’s online course, visit Diplo’s course website.
