Last Call for Applications: MA/PGD in Contemporary Diplomacy
The Master of Arts/Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Diplomacy is designed for diplomats, civil servants, employees of international organisations, and others involved in international relations. The programme focuses on a broad spectrum of issues, including the work of diplomats in today’s world, new topics on diplomatic agendas, and the use of information and communications technology tools for diplomatic activities.
Delivered through blended learning, the programme takes advantage of the benefits offered by both traditional, face-to-face teaching, and online instruction. It is accredited through the Department of International Relations within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta.
The application deadline for the programme commencing in 2008 is October 10, 2007. For further information, and to apply, please visit the MA/PGD in Contemporary Diplomacy website.
Celebrity Diplomacy
A recently published book, Celebrity Diplomacy, by Andrew F. Cooper, is the first to examine celebrity diplomacy as a serious global project with important implications, both positive and negative. Intended for readers who might not normally read about celebrities, it may also attract audiences often turned off by international affairs. Celebrities often bring optimism to issues that seem deep and gloomy. Even if their lofty statements and goals remain elusive, when celebrities speak, other actors in the global system listen. Andrew F. Cooper is Associate Director and Distinguished Fellow of the Centre for International Governance Innovation and Professor of Political Science at the University of Waterloo.
