Climate Change: In the Real World there is no Second Life
“In the Real World there is no Second Life” was the title of the virtual press conference hosted at Diplomacy Island in Second Life on 15 November 2007, on the occasion of the end of the Maldives Conference on “Human Aspects of Global Climate Change.” The press conference was addressed by the Maldives Foreign Minister, Abdulla Shahid, the UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, David Miliband, and the Foreign Minister of Malta, Michael Frendo. Conference on Climate Change and Diplomacy
The International Conference on Climate Change Diplomacy will be held on the 7th and 8th of February 2008 in Malta. The conference will focus on post-Bali developments. The main emphasis will be on coordinating various capacity building activities in the field of climate change diplomacy. For further information, or to submit an abstract for a conference presentation, please consult the conference website. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is December 10, 2007.
Through the Diplomatic Looking Glass
On November 30, 2007 the Geneva Diplomatic Book Circle will present a new book by Italian diplomats Stefano Baldi and Pasquale Baldocci, Through the Diplomatic Looking Glass. The book, published in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is the first of a new collection in DiploFoundation publications entitled, “Diplomats as writers.” The book is based on the Italian version titled La Penna del diplomatico.
