Climate Change as a Common Concern of Humanity
The University of Malta is holding a Summer School on climate change law and policy from 23 June to 4 July. Its purpose is to train and provide advice on the current legal framework and related policy issues that mitigation and adaptation measures will affect. The Summer School will provide a unique opportunity for the comparative study of climate change law and policy in the EU, other Annex I countries, and developing countries. The course will provide an interesting mix of classroom lectures, fieldwork, and workshops given by leading scholars in the field. It includes a comprehensive overview of current legal and policy sources and the examination of case studies. The Summer School on Climate Change Law and Policy is supported by the Catholic University of Leuven and DiploFoundation. Please see the website of The Foundation for International Studies for more details. The closing date for registration is 23 May 2008.
Advanced Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme 2008
After the successful completion of the foundation course of the Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme, to which 135 participants from over 65 countries contributed, the advanced course is about to start. A number of successful members of the foundation course received a scholarship for attending the advanced course, which will run throughout May and June 2008.
The advanced course focuses on six topics high on the international Internet governance agenda: e-commerce, electronic voting, Internet infrastructure and connection costs, intellectual property rights, and privacy and security. The participants will be organised into groups to discuss each topic, bringing geographical diversity to the variety of professional backgrounds and stakeholders represented in each group.
