Roshan Nanayakkara

SA M&E, Heritage and Tourism to the Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism & Creative Economy

Roshan Nanayakkara is a young professional with expertise in software development, project management, monitoring and evaluation, policy development, and community engagement in the private and public sectors, as well as in the development sectors. He has led projects in DFI, private and public sector funded projects in several sectors, with the bulk of his previous experience stemming from his work in the Agriculture, Healthcare and Humanitarian Sectors.

As part of his relevant experience, he led the policy drafting consulting team for National Policy on Cash and Voucher Assistance in Humanitarian Contexts (NPCVAH) from 2021 – 2023 as a consultant for the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and worked at the Emergency Coordination Centre from 2018 – 2019. He has also served as a Monitoring and Evaluation Expert on several projects in the health, education and agriculture sectors, working with several stakeholders from rural communities to funding agencies, manufacturers, research institutions and more.

In his time at FMACTCE, he has worked on several key initiatives of the Ministry through the Minister’s office, including chairing the drafting sub-
committee of the Draft National Intellectual Property Policy and Strategy (NIPPS), as well served on the committees for the National Cultural Policy and the National Policy on Tourism. He is also responsible for the Ministry’s performance management bond with the Presidency, ensuring periodic data collection, analysis and reporting. He serves as the Ministry’s point person for interaction with UNESCO on heritage as well as foreign governments and entities on cultural artefact repatriation.
