DRC launches $30 million Raxio data centre to boost digital economy

In a significant step towards advancing the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DRC) digital transformation, Raxio Group has inaugurated its largest data centre in Kinshasa. Named Raxio DRC1, this state-of-the-art facility, with Tier III accreditation from the Uptime Institute, represents a $30 million investment and plays a crucial role in the country’s Plan National du Numérique, aimed at enhancing digital inclusion, boosting private sector growth, and transforming public services.

Located in Limete, Kinshasa, the two-storey Raxio Data Centre covers 1,542 square meters, housing up to 400 racks with 1.5MW of IT power. The “always-on” facility is strategically positioned along key fibre routes, offering top-tier colocation and connectivity services. Its Tier III certification is supported by multiple power and cooling systems, with advanced components ensuring efficiency and a commitment to sustainability. The project was rapidly completed since construction began in early 2023, highlighting Raxio’s expertise in data centre development and the government’s support for national digital initiatives.
