Diplo’s February courses session marked by high completion rates

A total of 104 participants successfully finished five Diplo courses which ran between February and May this year.

These five courses had a widespread reach. In fact, participants hailed from 58 countries all around the world.

This marks an overall completion rate of 95% for these interactive online accredited courses which cover a multitude of subjects related to diplomacy, Internet governance, capacity development, and digital policy. In the field of online learning, course completion rates tend to be low (sometimes just 10 to 20%, for example). Diplo attributes its high success rate to the interactive nature of its courses, where participants interact on a daily basis with each other and course instructors, and receive support from trained course coordinators.

‘I truly enjoyed DiploFoundation’s 8-week e-learning course on Public Diplomacy,’ said Samiran Gupta, Head of India Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). ‘As a non-career diplomat, I got to test and improve my skills, engaging with the faculty and course colleagues. I recommend this course particularly to those who work in the public affairs space.’

‘The course on Diplomatic Theory and Practice encourages great interest in the corpus of critical academic theory on diplomatic practice while being grounded in examples from the history of diplomacy up to contemporary developments,’ noticed Denise Demicoli, Deputy High Commissioner for Malta to Australia and New Zealand. ‘The lecturers on this model provided prompt and effective support throughout. I especially appreciated the weekly online sessions and the recommended readings, subsisting ongoing learning. I would recommend this course to those interested in acquiring an edge over the tangible diplomatic practice.’

The next DiploFoundation courses start in July.
