[WebDebate] Exploring innovative teaching methodologies: Digital tools for teaching diplomacy

03 December 2019 -

online

Digital tools have garnered substantial interest in the context of teaching and training in diplomatic practice. Tools such as video conferences, small online courses, and massive open online courses are changing the landscape of what is possible in the field. We engage in this conversation with the aim to keep diplomatic teaching and training up to date, to offer the best possible experience for participants, and to reach those that might have been excluded previously.

In exploring innovative methodologies for learning and teaching diplomacy, we seek to inspire those who work in the field, and to highlight both their challenges and opportunities. By engaging in a conversation on the most recent developments with practitioners, we also seek to identify best practices and advice for future developments in the field.

In particular, we will explore the digitals tools currently employed; the ‘how’ and ‘why’ they are utilised; the challenges and opportunities associated with them; and, best practices and lessons learned.

Participants:

Prof. Jaime de Aguinaga García (Professor of Practice of International Development, School of Global and Public Affairs, IE University)

Dr Katharina Höne (Senior Researcher and Lecturer, DiploFoundation)

Join us online on Tuesday, 3rd December at 12:00 UTC (13:00 CET).

About our WebDebates

The WebDebates on the future of diplomacy are live streamed on the first Tuesday of every month. They are organised by Diplo within the framework of the International Forum on Diplomatic Training (IFDT). Learn more about our series of WebDebates.

If you form part of a dynamic circle of practitioners in your community, we encourage you to establish a diplomatic hub to follow the WebDebates and to facilitate discussions.
