26 April 2006 - 27 April 2006
Geneva
This seminar provided an opportunity for dialogue and development of the
concept of Roma Diplomacy: “Virtual Diplomacy for a Virtual Nation.”
Working together in a round table environment, Roma rights activists,
academics, and members of the Geneva international community concerned with
human rights and related issues mapped out the main elements of Roma
Diplomacy, a form of non-state representation aimed at developing policy
partnerships. Seminar participants explored the possibilities and limits of
Roma Diplomacy, and its relation to classical diplomacy. The seminar
addressed the problem of the policy gap which exists in the communication
between Roma communities and decision makers at the European, national and
local levels. This seminar was part of the Roma Diplomacy project.
