International seminar on digital diplomacy – Beyond social media

The International Seminar on Digital Diplomacy, a collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, UN Global Pulse and DiploFoundation, is a seminar that will discuss the environment in which diplomacy is conducted, the emergence of new topics on diplomatic agendas (including Internet governance, digital policy), and the use of new data analytics and connectivity tools in the practice of diplomacy (including social media, data, visualisation). There will be an explicit focus on big data and its potential to innovate diplomatic and international affairs, as well as its place on the agenda of foreign policymakers.

Prof. Jovan Kurbalija (Director of DiploFoundation and Head of Geneva Internet Platform) will take part in Session 1: Talkshow – Technology, Does It Changes Diplomacy? Discussing the question: How digital innovation changes the way diplomacy is being done and what are the challenges? at the International Seminar on Digital Diplomacy in Jakarta, on 12 July from 9:30 to 11:00 GMT+7.

Ms Shita Laksmi (DiploFoundation) will moderate Session 2: Individual Presentation – Dimension of Digital Diplomacy from 11:00 to 12:00 GMT+7, and Prof. Kurbalija will further moderate Session 4: Digital Diplomacy for Diplomat from 14:00 to 14:00 GMT+7.
