Geneva Comms Network
September 2023
Dear colleagues,
Every day, minute, and second, “likes” and emojis are pouring in, comments are flooding the posts, and retweets are pinging your accounts… It goes without saying that the world of Comms moves at light’s speed.
Apart from all of the online noises that scream for your attention, many forces are changing the ways in which online communication works: Elon Musk’s takeover of X (formerly our favorite blue birdie Twitter), generative AI’s dazzling entrance into everyone’s conversation, regulators’ crackdown on harmful social media campaigns, and end-users’ outcry at un-inclusive online platforms, etc.
The best way to be reactive to the ever-changing environment is to stay informed. We are thus bringing you a curated list of updates on what might inspire new communication strategies.
Best regards,
Yung-Hsuan
Social Media Policy Radar
The very battlefield of communicators is constantly evolving. Social media platforms roll out new features and policies frequently; regulators around the world slam the gatekeeping platforms with fines and demands.

Geneva Engage Awards
Did you know?
A moment of history
The Geneva Engage Awards are one of DiploFoundation’s longest legacy, now entering its 9th year. Since 2016, Diplo has been methodically documenting the online presence of International Geneva entities and honouring those who are the best at bringing Geneva to the world digitally.
In an era where information abounds, how does Geneva maintain its relevance amidst noises, dis/misinformation, and competing global hubs? How well does Geneva engage with the rest of the world and relay updates on the crucial policy processes here that affect the global population?
We continuously bring innovation to our awards to adapt to the ever-changing digital ecosystem. In 2020, ahead of the Covid-induced remote working, we foresaw the value of online conferencing and introduced the new Online Participation Award. In 2022, we recognised the importance of curating a more inclusive experience for all and introduced the Accessibility Award.
This past year, we have seen massive changes in the digital world. As such, we are curating you this list of updates ahead of our 9th Awards.
Stay tuned to find out more fun facts about our past awards. Head straight to our dedicated site to read more about our research!
