Slow progress of French feminist diplomacy

France has made strides in promoting gender equality and women’s rights within its own government, with a rise in the number of women ambassadors and consuls general. However, the recent report found that progress abroad has been slow, especially in the face of global regression of women’s rights.

While France has embraced feminist diplomacy, it lacks an official definition and political support at the highest level of government. The report suggests that more needs to be done to include women in prestigious diplomatic posts and to define and deploy feminist diplomacy.
