ECPAT International is a global network of organisations working together for the elimination of child prostitution, child pornography and the trafficking of children for sexual purposes.
ECPAT promotes collaboration among local organisations and the broader child rights community in order to protect children from sexual exploitation. ECPAT groups (currently, 90 such groups in 82 countries) are involved in the implementation of various initiatives to protect children at local levels, while the Secretariat provides technical support, research and information. It also represents and advocates on key child protection issues at the international and regional level on behalf of the network.
ECPAT works towards the end of commercial sexual exploitation of children in four main ways: end child prostitution, end trafficking of children for sexual purposes, end child pornography, and end child sex tourism
ECPAT addresses the online and Internet-related implications of its objectives, and offers networking and information sharing on ending child sexual exploitation. The organisation also undertakes reserach in the area of online child expliotation, and one example in this regard is the 'Piracy Website Advertising in Brazil and its Linkages to Child Exploitation Material' published in December 2015.
