AFRINIC distributes Internet numbers to the Local Internet Registries (LIRs), providers, and Internet users in Africa; manages the regional Whois service, which provide information about who is behind a website or IP address; produces statistics; provides technical training on issues such as IPv6 and DNSSEC planning and deployment; and develops regional policy in its area of competence.
