Stakeholder group: NGOs and associations
The Internet Infrastructure Coalition (i2C) is an association of Internet infrastructure companies created in 2012 with the aim to foster the growth of the Internet and the Internet infrastructure industry across the globe. Members of the coalition are Internet hosting companies, data centers, domain name registries and registrars, software services providers and other related technology companies.
The coalition’s activities focus on promoting the interests of its members to governments and regulatory authorities, as well as on developing and sharing industry best business practices. These activities are mostly carried out through working groups, which focus on issues such as: gender diversity and equity, Internet safety, public policy, technical outreach, and Internet governance. Other Internet governance related issues to which the i2C pays attention include: government access to data, cross border data flows, intermediary liability, and the open Internet. The coalition, together with the Secure Domain Foundation, has also launched an abuse reporting discussion list, aimed to facilitate discussions about domain name abuse definitions and reporting requirements.
In addition, the coalition is also actively involved in Internet governance processes and organisations, such as the Internet Governance Forum and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.
