Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies

The Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies (G3ict) is a nonprofit organisation launched, as an advocacy initiative, by the United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development, in cooperation with the Secretariat for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. The aim of G3ict is to facilitate and support the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on the accessibility of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) and assistive technologies. 

The work of the organisation focuses on the development and promotion of good practices, technical resources and benchmarks for ICT accessibility advocates. One illustration of this work is the e-Accessibility Policy Handbook for Persons with Disabilities. Participants in the work of G3ict include policy makers and public sector entities, organisations of persons with disabilities, the private sector, the technical and academic communities, as well as intergovernmental organisations such as the International Telecommunication Union, the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
