Jean-Michel Monod
Former Head, Regional Delegation for North Africa, International Committee of the Red Cross
Jean-Michel Monod, a Swiss citizen, worked for 37 years with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in the field (Head of Delegations in the Middle East, Asia and North Africa) and at headquarters as Delegate General (Director) for Asia and the Pacific. As Delegate General for Asia and the Pacific, his responsibilities included negotiating the acceptability of ICRC’s services in sensitive situations (Myanmar, Afghanistan, Cambodia and Sri Lanka, East Timor, India inter alia). As Head of the Regional Delegation for North Africa (2010-2013), he successfully negotiated the opening of an ICRC Delegation in Tripoli (Libya) in April 2011. Jean-Michel retired in October 2013 and lives in Geneva.
