Giorgio Ferrario
Former Head of National Society Development, IFRC Geneva, and Head of Country Cluster / Regional Delegations in Various Locations, IFRC
Giorgio Ferrario has more than 38 years of experience in humanitarian work across Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia and Geneva (Switzerland), working mainly for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. He has covered different positions, first joining the IFRC as a Field Delegate in 1985, and then ending with the responsibility for one of the main mandates of the IFRC at their Geneva Headquarters. He also performed as an independent consultant focusing on evaluations and reviews, including a review of the Movement Coordination Framework in Haiti. Giorgio’s strengths are strategic management, organisational development, representation and humanitarian diplomacy. His work in support of leaders of a very large number of Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies has covered complex integrity issues. During his missions, he has managed a wide series of humanitarian emergencies, including earthquakes, floods, population movements, conflict-related complex emergencies, droughts, and hurricanes. He has been a volunteer of the Italian Red Cross since 1981.
