In March 2010, 27 participants from 15 African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) countries took part in Diplo’s Internet Governance Diplomacy workshop, within the framework of the ICANN meeting in Nairobi. The workshop attracted representatives from government, civil society, business, academia, and the media, all of whom welcomed the hands-on approach. The participants learned about the multifaceted aspects of Internet governance, the complex negotiations which often challenge traditional methods, the pressing Internet governance issues facing their regions, and the challenges their regions need to overcome. They praised the opportunities for interaction that the workshop created, and called for more workshops to take place in their region.
